State Universities in India


State Universities in India are the Universities which functions under the control of State government and recognised by University Grants Commission. These Universities are not eligible to receive any grants from the Central Government. There are State Universities in India in its 23 states and Andhra Pradesh with 32 State Universities has a record of the highest number of State Universities in India. Among the Union Territories, Chandigarh and Delhi have State Universities.

Unique State Universities

There are a total of 251 State Universities in India of which UGC allocate grant to 123 Universities. Among these 251, there are a few Universities unique in its specialisations. A University in Andhra Pradesh for Dravidian languages is of great help to those who are interested in literature. This University provides students to do explore and research in all Dravidian languages, Folklore & Tribal studies, Archaeology, Culture and also in several science disciplines.
