IIIT Colleges in India


The Indian Institute of Information Technology or the IIIT Colleges in India is an autonomous body that was set up by the Ministry of Human Resources development of the Government of India in Hyderabad. The others who collaborated with the Ministry also include the Government of Andhra Pradesh and by their industrial partners. The three together have funded the institute and it is run as a no –profit orgnazaitotion. It is one of the most valuable and constructive platforms for research programs and as an educational centre for learning the core subjects of Information technology. Still in its nascent stage, having just begun in 2013, the IIIT Colleges in India hopes to be on the list of top 10 premium institutes by the end of the next decade. Also the present plan is for the establishment of 20 such IIIT Colleges in India around the country under the collaboration of the private and the public sector partnership model which is known as the PPP model. The plan is for each of the IIIT Colleges in India to be instituted and established as an autonomous body. Following the PPP model, the establishment will be under the Central Government, the respective State Government and with major industries contributing to the establishment of the IIIT Colleges in India.

Courses offered

The IIIT Colleges in India offers 30 seats each in the Under Graduated Courses. Besides Under –Graduate courses, the IIITs also offer Post-Graduate Courses and Research Programs. Some of the courses offered by IIIT Colleges in India include.

  • IT in Informatics
  • IT in Library Science
  • Fields of Design
  • Computer Science

Curriculum at IIIT Colleges:

The curriculum followed in the IIIT Colleges in India is very functional and of very high standards. It follows the internationally set standards and follows the curriculum followed in premiums institutions around the world.

Admissions for IIIT Colleges

Admissions to the IIIT Colleges in India is based on the JEE or the Joint Entrance Examination scores. Based on the JEE scores, the seats are allotted to students by the CSAB which is the Central Seat Allocation Board.

Eligibility for IIIT Colleges

Besides passing the JEE, the students seeking admission to the IIIT Colleges in India must have completed their 10+2 School education under the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science as their subjects in School.
