What is Arts Education and what is Science Education?

The major difference lies in the learning style. Arts stream teaches why the field is being studied and Science stream teaches how to apply the study. Yet, many subjects don’t make much difference whether Arts or Science is opted. Many of the subjects come under Arts as well as Science. The major subjects that come under both the streams are Mathematics, Science, Computer Applications, Anthropology etc.

Apart from the common subjects most of the subjects offered in Arts are Languages of different states and countries, performing arts, religious studies, social sciences etc. The subjects offered in Sciences are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Statistics, Microbiology, Animation, Computer Application etc.

Educational requirements:

One must acquire at least a Diploma in the stream to enter the career options of the field. Several programs like Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor and Master are offered in the streams of the disciplines. The major of them are:

Duration of the courses:

The Bachelor degree of Arts or Science is of 3 years and Master degree of Arts or Science is of 2 years. The duration of the Certificate courses varies from days to months. The Diploma courses are offered with the duration of either 6months or 1 year.

Few colleges admit students considering the percentage in 10+2. But, few others conduct entrance test and the admission is according to the score in the test as well as the score in 10+2.

Few open universities are offering Bachelor courses with the eligibility of passing in 10th for those who have above 18 years.

The eligibility to the Certificate and Diploma programs vary from college to college. Either passing in 10+2 or graduation is the academic requirements.

What after a degree?

There are several career options for the fresh graduations. The major fields are:

Teacher/Lecturer/Professor: The graduation with Bachelor degree in education (B.Ed.) enables one to become a teacher. Post Graduation and the passing score in National Eligibility Test (NET) are the required qualification for being a Lecturer or Assistant Professor. The higher degree Ph.D. enables one to be a professor. The opportunities are found in both government and private organizations. The salary in the private field depends on the experience. There is even a great scope in online teaching.

Civil Services: Preparing for civil services is the choice of many aspirants which allows playing major roles of the administration. UPSC is the commission which conducts the exam for the recruitment in All India, Central and State Services. Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) are few of the services that recruit through the commission. Print media: Article writer, columnist, Journalist, novelist, story writer, Editor, Poet, translator etc are the major roles of the field. Newspapers, magazines, publishing companies are few of the work providing areas. Journalism or creative writing courses help one for getting better opportunities.
