Czech, which is formerly known as Bohemian during 19th century, is official language in Czech Republic, European Union and minority language in Slovakia. It is native to 12 million people of the world. The language is a little difficult for the non native, particularly English speakers as the language doesn’t have any vowels.

There are three major programs offered in the language. They are:

Certificate of Proficiency in Czech

This is a one year regular course. The course deals with the elementary elements of the language and grammar. The examination is taken as three papers covering Grammar, translation and Oral Exam. The candidates appearing in the exam are permitted to use a dictionary for translation examination. The medium of instructions is Czech.

Diploma in Czech language

This is one year regular course and the eligibility requirements are Certificate or an equivalent and passing in admission test. The course focuses on improved grammar and ability of expression in simple literary language, oral and written and translating English into Czech language and vice-versa. The examination is on grammar, translation and oral exam on reading and conversation and questions on Czech literature and culture. The candidates appearing in the exam are permitted to use a dictionary for translation examination. The medium of instructions is Czech.

Advanced diploma in Czech language

The one year regular course requires Diploma or equivalent in the language and passing in admission test for the admission. The course focuses on grammar, translation of articles from newspapers and magazines, Czech literature and culture. The examination is on grammar, translation and oral exam on reading and conversation and questions on Czech literature and culture. The candidates appearing the exam are permitted to use dictionary for translation examination. The medium of instructions is Czech.

Career prospect for Czech language Courses

Teaching, translation and customer service are the few of the fields that offer opportunities in the language.

Teaching: For being an instructor or teacher of the language, one need to have at least Diploma in the language and Advanced Diploma is preferable. As only few institutions or organizations are offering the course, teaching the language is least preferred by many. A few online websites are also offering the language courses and recruit the experts as instructors or content developers of the language.

Translation: This is one of the most chosen areas by the aspirants as a career option. There are several opportunities for Czech to English or Hindi translations and vice-versa. Diploma or Advanced Diploma is the required qualification. Many servicing companies recruit the language experts for translating books, magazines or newspapers. Apart from them marriage certificates, academic transcripts, immigration and naturalization papers, etc. are also getting translated. Several opportunities are also found in online servicing companies. These jobs can also be chosen as part time.

Customer Services: Few BPO companies are offering opportunities for the Czech language experts. These servicing companies offer voice based or non voice based job roles to these experts.
