Journalism entails the creation of content which is propagated via media to convey information, opinion and news to the public at large .Broadcast Journalism Is a course that endows the candidate with all knowledge pertaining to journalism using television and radio as the media platforms. The course has a two-fold approach; the content creation side and the technical side. Content creation includes ideation, planning, execution and delivery of the content which includes news, live programming, documentaries and chat shows etc. The course prepares the candidate for all aspects of creating content which includes scripting, visual planning, anchoring, reporting, editing and packaging. The technical side throws light on the use of equipment. Camera handling, sound and light management, editing and graphics and other technicalities which are a part of the content creation process. For Television, the visual presentation is more critical whereas in Radio, the content has to be created more for the ear than the eye. The course is aimed to prepare the candidate for both.

Broadcast Journalism (B.P.R) Course duration and structure

  • Most institutions have the course duration spread across one* calendar years (split across Semesters)
  • Along with theoretical study, course includes real life reporting, field work and technical sessions

  • Candidates who have successfully completed their HSC (10+2) examination, in any stream, from a recognized board across the country with a minimum 50%* aggregate can apply
