Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com) Courses in India


Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) is an undergraduate degree program which is of great help to the students who are interested in Commerce or pursuing a Commerce related discipline in the Postgraduate level. B.Com Courses once was not a much sought after degree, but has now made it to the list of courses on demand. The trend is such that even the top scorers also wish to take up the B.Com Courses. Eligibility for Commerce Courses

A student who has passed Higher Secondary Course or the 10+ 2 Courses or its equivalent is eligible to do the B.Com Course. There is no entrance examination conducted and the admission is based on marks scored in the qualifying examination. However, to get into the merit list, and get admission to the stream with the preferred subjects, the scores of the qualifying examination must be above 50% aggregate. Honours B.Com

Generally, B.Com Courses extend over a period of three years that is six semesters. Honours B.Com is a four year undergraduate program offered by a few Universities. This course is higher than the normal B.Com Courses with more detailed subjects to be learned extensively. The courses are at par with the international level. The admission to B.Com (Hons) also is based on the cut off of the student in qualifying examination.

There are various specializations in the B.Com Courses from which students can make their own choice. The availability of an academic major depends on the institution. Some of the common branches of the B.Com Courses are Accounts &Finance, Computer applications, Audit, Banking & Insurance etc. There are also areas of study like Economics, Labour relations, Law, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Statistics, Marketing etc.

The B.Com Courses can also be completed by the distance education mode and a number of Universities have their own School for distance education conducting the courses. These course equal to the formal college education of the course and hence people who are working or do not have access to formal education can take up the course in the distance mode.
