B.D.S course is offered in different formats by various institutions. Few institutes offer the course in 2 or more semesters whereas few other offers it for 4 to 5 years which may include internship. The course is offered in regular mode, part time mode and in distance or correspondence mode. The course comprises various activities related to the dental stream such as seminars, lectures, group discussions and clinical works. Human Physiology, orthodontics, materials of dentistry, oral microbiology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology etc are the major subject of the course. Practical examinations, viva and internal assessment are part of the exam pattern. One year internship is mandatory after passing B.D.S examination.
B.D.S. (Bachelor of Dental Science) Eligibility
Passing 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects from a recognized board or its equivalent is the minimum educational eligibility to apply for the course. The score in the entrance test ‘The All India Premedical / Pre-Dental Entrance Exam’ which is conducted by CBSE is considered for taking the admission.
