Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam


Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission. The exam is conducted two times in a year. The exam aims in recruiting the Accountants and Auditors in few of the Government Departments. The exam is considered as one of the toughest examination and the competition ratio also stands high at every exam.

Why to Take the Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam?

The exam is part of the recruitment of Auditors and Accountants for the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IAAD). It is functioning department of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India Government. The responsibility of the posts includes the maintenance of Accounts and audits for various departments that come under Central Government.

Eligibility for Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam

The academic eligibility qualification is Graduation Degree from a recognized university. Minimum age of the candidate is 18 years and maximum age limit is 25. The upper age limit is relaxed for the candidates of the reservation category. The age relaxation is also provided for the in service government employs of other departments.

Exam Pattern for Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam

The exam is objective type. The duration of the exam is 2 hrs. Total questions that are questioned are 200. Paper includes four sections – General Intelligence, General Awareness, comprehension and Writing Ability of English and Arithmetic. Each section carries 50 questions. The questions can be found both in English and Hindi.

Verbal and non-verbal questions are questions under General Intelligence which aim to test the knowledge of the candidate in understanding the instructions, similarities, drawing conclusions, relevance and intellectual functions.

In General Awareness section, the candidate is questioned on current events, Indian history, culture, geography, neighborhood, polity and scientific researches.

English vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and comprehension of passages are questioned in section of English. Arithmetic includes the topics like percentages, averages, ratio and proportion, rounding numbers, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance etc.

How to Apply Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam?

The notification of the exam is found in Employment News and other newspapers. The notification is usually found in the month of July and the exam is in the month of November. The blank application is found with the notification. The fee is exempted for the female and SC/ST/PH candidates. The application can be written, only with black ink pen, or typed. Candidates must be ready with duly taken passport-sized photograph. The filled forms must be reached to mentioned address before the last date along with enclosures like fee challan etc.

How to Prepare Accountants and Auditors Recruitment Exam?

  • Start the preparation as early as possible
  • Read the newspaper regularly which improves General Awareness as it aims the topics like Current Events, Culture, History, Geography, and general Polity etc.
  • For Arithmetic, High School Mathematics textbooks are very useful for getting cleared with basics.
  • Knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary would help in the language test
  • Reading English Newspaper helps to improve vocabulary and the correct usage of words.
  • Several publications are providing practice papers which would give the knowledge of questioning pattern
  • Mock tests and previous papers help to improve the time management.
