About CLAT Entrance Exam
An online objective test is conducted by the sixteen law schools in India called the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) every year. The meritorious candidates can enter their undergraduate (LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) programs to study. The undergraduate courses offered are BALLB (Hons), BSc LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), BSW LLB (Hons), BCom LLB (Hons) degrees. However the respective university websites will have to be surfed to get the details regarding the duration and specializations of the LLM (postgraduate) degree. The websites are updated regularly when there is a change in the course structure.
Eligibility Criteria for CLAT Entrance Exam
For undergraduate courses: An aggregate mark of 45% is required for the general category in their higher secondary/intermediate/ 10+2exam or any equivalent exam from a recognized university and they should be below 20 years of age at the time of appearing for the exam.
Candidates under the SC/ST/PWD category should be below 22 years of age and require a minimum 40% in the exam
Candidates yet to appear for the qualifying exams are also eligible to apply, but should have passed the exam with the required minimum percentage marks at the time of admission
For postgraduate courses: Candidates should have successfully completed LLB /a five year integrated LLB or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. A minimum 55% aggregate mark is required for general category and 50% in case of SC/ST candidates and candidates with disability.

CLAT Entrance Exam Syllabus
There is no fixed syllabus. General Knowledge, and familiarity with the Current Affairs are tested. English is tested for knowledge in Comprehension and Grammatical Skills. Mathematics is generally up to the 10th standard. Candidates are also tested for their aptitude in Law and for problem solving skills. Hypothetical questions on law and legal situations can be expected. Logical reasoning is another topic in which the candidate is tested.
How to apply for CLAT Entrance Exam
Only online application forms are allowed and it can be downloaded from the website of CLAT. The candidate needs to fill in the application form, all the required documents need to be attached along with the application form when submitting the same. The supporting documents include certificate for the Proof of date of birth and domicile or nativity, a recent photograph and copy of specimen signature. The fee for the application also needs to be paid online and the fee for the same is Rs.4000/- for General and OBC categories and for SC/ ST and disabled candidates, it is Rs.3000/-. Payment can be done online by net banking. E-Challan payment is also accepted.
CLAT Entrance Exam Pattern
There are 200 questions in all, carrying a total of 200 marks. All the questions are set in the multiple choice format. The duration of the test is for 2 hours. English is of 40 marks, General knowledge and current affairs of 50 marks, Mathematics 20 marks and Logical Reasoning 40 marks. The legal aptitude section is of 50 marks. There is a system of negative marking in which 1/4th mark is deducted for every wrong answer from the total.
