Career Options After 12th in Commerce


Entering 11th is the first step of further career. It decides the path of the future job aspects. Passing 12th also place several paths of courses before the student to decide. The student must choose as per his knowledge and interest. When it comes to Commerce education, developing India has great scope of career prospect as it is considered as one of the evergreen jobs.

Students are suggested to choose to continue the study as Graduation is the minimum educational qualification for most of the Commerce related jobs.

There are several options for Commerce students after 12th if they want to continue in Commerce Stream. Major of them are Graduation in Commerce (B.Com.), Graduation in Commerce with Computers (B.Com.-Computers), Graduation in Accounting and Finance (B.A.F.), Graduation in Financial Market (B.F.M.), Graduation in Banking and Insurance (B.B.I.), Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS) etc.

Graduation Courses:

As mentioned earlier, there are several Graduation courses offered for the Commerce students.

B.Com. gives you the knowledge of Commerce in detailed that after Graduation you will be eligible to join as an Accountant in any of the companies. B.Com. with the specialization in Computers is rather helpful as the present society is totally dependent on the computers. E-Commerce and Tally are some of the popular commerce related computer subjects. After Graduation one can try for the Accountant job even in corporate companies with the knowledge of Computers. Graduation in Accounting and Finance (B.A.F.) focuses on taxation, business law, cost accounting etc. The course is offered by few of the Colleges of India. After Graduation, one can have an own consultancy or work in any of the companies. Bachelor Degree in Financial Markets (B.F.M.) helps in giving detailed knowledge of Financial Market like equity markets, risk management, mutual funds and security etc whereas Graduation in Banking and Insurance gives detailed knowledge of Banking and Insurance sectors. On completing these Graduation courses, you can get the opportunities in any of the financial institutions.

The courses are offered in regular mode or distance mode or in both by many of the colleges and Universities.

Other Courses

There are several other courses besides the general graduation courses for the commerce students to reach higher positions. Chartered Accountancy (CA), Computer Secretary (CS) and Cost & Works Accountancy (ICWA) are few of them. These courses are considered as tougher to complete comparing with Graduation courses. Most of the students start these courses besides 10+2 that it completes along with their Graduation. There is a huge demand for those who complete CA, CS and ICWA. The positions and pay packages are higher. These courses provide scope of gaining practical knowledge besides the theoretical knowledge as the courses include practical working

Apart from these courses, there are several other Certificate, Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma courses offered by several Universities which are either regular or distance mode. These courses help in improving the knowledge of the particular subject.

After Graduation

After Graduation M.Com is the most chosen course. M.B.A. and few other courses are also chosen by many other as per the requirement of the career.

Commerce is being improving with the latest technologies and the requirement of commerce literates is increasing day by day. Thus, the stream has been one of the top streams of the present days.
