About MHTCET Entrance Exam

The MHT-CET is a common entrance test that is conducted yearly once by the government of Maharashtra. One of the major thing about MHT-CET entrance exam is that they are conducted under the supervision of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) for selection of candidates at the undergraduate levels for health sciences, which includes medical sciences and pharmacy. The Directorate of Technical Education acts as the apex body for conducting MHT-CET in the month of May, every year. The final selection of candidates for the various undergraduate medical courses is based on this entrance test.

MHTCET Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should be an Indian national, which is the first and foremost eligibility criteria. As this is a state level entrance exam the aspirant should be a resident of Maharashtra. By 31st December of the year of admission, the candidate should have attained a minimum of 17 years. Another important aspect is medical fitness and that should be supported by giving medical fitness certificate. The passing of the higher secondary exam or equivalent in science with biology from a reputed institute in Maharashtra is mandatory. A minimum of 50% is required for open category candidates at plus two level. For students under constitutional reservations and those with disability concessions are given in their score percentage.

MHTCET Entrance Exam syllabus

The entrance exam syllabus mainly covers the portions of physics, chemistry and biology of classes 11th and 12th of Maharashtra state board. Elaborate details about the entrance exam syllabus will be furnished in the exam notification. As the test is more based on class 12 portions, it is not much tougher and at the same time not very easy. The student should be well versed with the portions of the higher secondary curriculum so that they can perform well in the examination.

How to apply for MHTCET Entrance Exam

The official website will carry the details on how to apply for the entrance test. The desired candidate has to visit the official website for registration and online submission of application form. By providing personal details and uploading a recent passport size photograph along with the signature in JPEJ format, the registration process is accomplished. On finishing the registration one can fill up the online application. For the first login a valid mail id, mobile number and a password are needed which are to be retained by the candidate for all further correspondence with the office. The payment of fees can be made after 48 hours of registration through the branches of the State Bank of India, which is around Rs.860/- for the general category and Rs. 660/- for reservation category.

MHTCET Entrance Exam pattern

A single question paper based on multiple choice questions is the basic entrance exam pattern. The test consists of 200 multiple choice questions of which chemistry and physics have 50 questions each and biology with 100 questions. The entrance test is of 3 hours duration and can be written in the languages, English, Marathi or Urdu as the option decided by the student.
