LIC Development Officer Exam


The exam is conducted by Life Insurance Corporation of India. The recruitment is for the Divisional Offices of LIC over India. The posting of the selected candidates are in the jurisdiction of the selected zone, if not nearby zone.

LIC Development Officer Exam Eligibility

Minimum age limit is 21 and maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1st June of the examination year. The upper age limit is relaxed for SC/ST and OBC. Graduation in any of the discipline from a recognized University is the minimum educational eligibility. Preference may be given to the Master's Degree holders in Business Administration in Marketing or Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing.

Though experience is not compulsion, preference will be given to LIC employees and agents or others who have at least 2 years experience in life insurance industry.

Candidates must note that the selected candidates must sign an Indemnity bond stating they would work for the company for minimum 4 years from the date of joining failing which he/she would pay 25,000 rupees to the Corporation.

LIC Development Officer Exam Pattern

Selection procedure includes online test and an interview.

Online test is objective type. It includes three papers. Paper I has two sections – Reasoning Ability and Numeric Ability. Each section carries 25 marks. Paper II has two sections – General Knowledge & Current Affairs and English Language with special emphasis on Grammar and Vocabulary. Each section carries 25 marks. Paper III tests Insurance and Financial marketing awareness with special emphasis on the knowledge of Life Insurance and Financial Sector. This paper is for 50 marks. Total marks are 150. Time duration for three papers is 120 minutes.

Candidates must pass in each paper separately. There is negative marking for the wrong answers. Those who qualify the online test are eligible for Interview. Selected candidates must be found medically fit by the authorized Medical Examiner to get appointed.

How to Apply for LIC Development Officer Exam?

Candidates have to apply only through online registration system from the official website. Before applying, candidates must be ready with the valid email ID, valid mobile number and a soft copy of recent passport sized color photograph. Candidates must follow the registration steps to fill the application form. The payment can be made through any of the valid online payment modes.

Candidates must download the call letter from the official website using the provided Registration number, Password and Date of Birth. It must be submitted at the examination hall along with any of the Photo Identity Proof.

How to prepare for LIC Development Officer Exam?

Several books are published with the topics covered in the exam with particularization of pattern. Reading newspapers and business magazines enhance the knowledge of general awareness and English language skills.

Mock Tests and Practice Tests are available with the coaching institutes and online coaching websites. These help to gain knowledge of questioning and time management, which is rather important. Few companies also provide CD’s covering the syllabus of the exam.
