GIC Assistants Exam


The examination is conducted by General Insurance Corporation. The company is one of the Government of India owned largest Insurance companies. The examination is conducted once a year, usually during the month of August. Candidates must be checking the Employment News for the notification from the month of April.

Why to Take the G.I.C. Assistants Exam?

The test is the part of the recruitment process of Assistant cadre personnel in General India Insurance. The pay includes basic pay, Dearness Allowance, Travelling Allowance and few other allowances. The chances to get promoted to the next cadres are higher that many aspirants get recruited as Assistants and develop their career.

G.I.C. Assistants Exam Eligibility

Minimum age limit is 18 and the maximum age limit is 28. The upper age is relaxed as per the Government rules. Passing 10 or its equivalent with 60% from a recognized Board is the required educational eligibility for the exam.

G.I.C. Assistants Exam Pattern

The selection procedure includes - Written examination and Interview.

Written test contains two papers. Paper-I is objective type. It contains five sections. Test of Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Clerical Aptitude, English Language and General Knowledge are the sections of Paper-I. The questions are provided in bilingual – Hindi and English, except for English Language test.

Paper-II is conducted Descriptive type. It contains Essay writing, Letter Writing and Precise Writing in English. Candidates are provided with internal options and they have to choose as per their proficiency.

Those who clear both the papers of written exam and qualify are eligible for the interview.

How to Apply for G.I.C. Assistants Exam?

Candidates can find the blank application forms Employment News along with the notification. Candidates can also fill either handwritten or typed and send the filled application to the mentioned address. The fee is Rs.40/-. The fee is exempted for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Physically Handicapped, Ex-Servicemen and confirmed employees of the GIC. The application must be attested with recent passport size photograph and fee related documents before applying.

How to Prepare for G.I.C. Assistants Exam?

The exam is conducted in the standard of class 10. Thus following the high school text books is rather important. The test includes verbal and non verbal questions besides the questions that test the perceptual accuracy and aptitude. Several publications are providing the books that could help in the preparation of these topics.

English grammar and vocabulary must be practiced. Any general English Grammar book or high school text books would help for preparation. Comprehension of passage also must be practiced. Reading English newspaper regularly enhances English language skills as well as General Awareness. Practicing old papers and mock tests help to understand the questioning pattern as well as improve the time management.
