Divisional Accountants Exam


Divisional Accountant Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam recruits the Accounting personnel to various departments of Government of India. The exam is conducted once a year. The notification of the exam is expected in the month of October and the exam is held in the month of March of next year.

Why to Take the Divisional Accountant Exam?

The exam is conducted to recruit Divisional Accountant, Auditors, Junior Accountants and Upper Division Clerks in the following divisions of Government of India.

  • Auditors in the offices of the Accountant General (Audit) in various States and other Audit and Accounts Offices that works under the Comptroller and Auditor-General
  • Auditors in the Defence Accounts Departments
  • Divisional Accountants in the Offices of Accountants General that works under Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
  • Upper Division Clerks in the offices which are under the charge of Commissioners of Income-Tax.

Divisional Accountant Exam Eligibility

Minimum age eligibility is 18 and maximum age eligibility is 25. The upper age limit is relaxed for the candidates of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. The candidate must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

Divisional Accountant Exam Pattern

The duration of the exam is 2 hrs. The exam is conducted in objective type providing four alternative answers for each question. The syllabus of the exam contains General Intelligence, General Awareness, Comprehension & Writing ability and Arithmetic. Total marks of the exam are 200.

General Intelligence tests the skills of understanding the instructions, relations, similarities and other of intellectual functions. General awareness aims to test the knowledge of current affairs, History, Economics, General Polity, Culture and Scientific Research. Comprehension and Writing Ability question on the knowledge of English language, grammar and vocabulary besides questions on comprehension passages.

How to apply for Divisional Accountant?

Candidates have to apply only through online registration from official website. Two stages process is followed to apply. Candidate must be ready with the scanned copy of passport sized photograph duly signed and valid email address before filling the application. Fee must be paid through online payment mode or Pay by Cash, which provides Pay- in- slip that should be deposited on the next working day itself. Eligible Candidates get e-Admit Card three weeks before the exam date to the mentioned email address.

How to Prepare for Divisional Accountant?

  • Read the newspaper regularly which improves General Awareness as it aims the topics like Current Events, Culture, History, Geography, and general Polity etc.
  • For Arithmetic, High School Mathematic textbooks are very useful for getting cleared with basics.
  • Knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary would help in the language test
  • Reading English News paper helps to improve vocabulary and the correct usage of words.
  • Several publications are providing practice papers which would give the knowledge of questioning pattern
  • Mock tests and previous papers help to improve the time management.
