Combined Medical Services Exam


Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) aims the recruitment of medical officers in various Indian Government Organizations. The conduction of exam is done by Union Public Services Commission. The examination is usually conducted during the month of June. The notification is usually released in the month of March.

Why to Take the Combined Medical Services Exam?

The candidates who pass the exam are recruited in the posts of Assistant Divisional Medical Officers, Junior Scale Posts in Health Services, General Duty Medical Officers etc, in the Indian Government services like Railways, Ordnance Factories, Central Health Services, Municipal Corporation etc. It is a computer based test.

Combined Medical Services Exam Eligibility

Candidates who passed both of the written and practical examinations of Final year M.B.B.S. are eligible to appear the examination. Candidates of final MBBS examination are also eligible for appearing the exam and they must submit the proof of clearing M.B.B.S if they qualify CMS exam. Maximum age of the candidate must be 32.

Structure and syllabus of the Combined Medical Services Exam

The written exam includes two papers of 250 marks each. The exam is conducted in objective type. First paper covers two sections –General Ability, General Medicine and Paediatrics for Paper I and Surgery, Gynaecology and Ostertrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine for Paper II. Total question in papers are 120 in each. Duration of each paper is two hours. There is penalty for wrong answer. Candidates are not allowed to use and bring any kind of calculating gadgets.

The candidates who clear the written exam will be eligible for Personality test which carries 100 marks. Candidate is expected to be physically fit.

The applications must be filled online through the official website of the Commission. The Detailed Application Form must be taken in printed form to sign and send to the Secretary of Commission along with the other required documents before the mentioned date.
