How to Prepare for IITJEE Entrance Exam 2024


The IITJEE was an entrance test conducted for selecting candidates for engineering courses at IITs all over India. Now the entrance exam name has changed to JEE that selects students for NITs and IIITs also. The examination is held in two phases- JEE main and JEE advanced. A definite number of top students will be selected for the advanced level exam. The JEE advanced needs to be cleared, along with high marks in grade 12 then only the candidate will be admitted to corresponding colleges. As there is a high level of filtering in all stages of the entrance test, how to prepare for IITJEE is a question prevailing in the minds of the aspirants.

The prime thing one has to bear in mind is the fact that clearing JEE means equal importance should be given to grade 12 examination along with entrance test. Scoring high marks in the grade 12 examination makes it much easier for getting top positions in the JEE advanced rank list. The selection of mode of exam is also important. A candidate who is not familiar with using a computer should opt only for paper and pen based test or else time and performance may be affected.

A thorough knowledge of each and every topic given in the NCERT textbooks of physics, chemistry and mathematics of grade 11 and 12 is a must. For math by solving the textual papers, previous year’s questions and the question banks available in the market can fetch high percentage in the tests. Many books are available in the market, which details tips and tricks for cracking IITJEE. The student should stick to one or a maximum of two books for reference. Following too many books can be confusing. For studying theory one author’s book can be used. Another book should be used for solving the questions.

Once a clear idea about the concepts are attained it should be applied in questions and try to answer those. By doing so one can understand their level of knowledge and analyze their weaker areas. After the first level of learning, revisions should be done to make concepts deep rooted in the minds. More time and focus has to be given to weaker areas. Time management is important in cracking entrance tests. By practicing previous year sample papers can help the candidate in learning time management and boost his level of confidence.

The exam pattern is 30 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to be solved in three hours. The negative marking should be taken care of by the candidate. The answer should be confirmed and then only marked to avoid unnecessary loss of marks. The unknown questions are to be left unanswered or else will end up losing marks. There are a whole lot of coaching centers which offer a wide range of courses. Depending on the need of the person one can select full time courses or crash courses. Crash courses can help in brushing up of the topics. A person who is not clear with the concepts should opt for full time classes.
