Introduction

Law is a promising career option nowadays. It opens great opportunities for the aspirants into numerous fields like, judiciary, corporate, taxation, cyber laws etc .Various courses are available in all of the branches of Law. Students are considering law as their primary career choice and are very well equipped with the desired level of knowledge, skills and attitude to face the challenges.

Courses like a three-year LLB programme after graduation in any discipline, or a five-year integrated BA LLB programme after passing Class 12 can be chosen. Usually aspirants give written entrance test like the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to get admission to these courses.

Law is a domain where logical skills, patience and out-of-the-box thinking is required. It demands hard work and persistence to become successful. People can specialize into different branches of law. Branches such as civil, criminal, corporate, taxation, labor and election law are the traditional and frequent choice of candidates. There are new disciplines as intellectual property (IP) laws, international laws, cyber laws, where one can get expertise for a promising future.

There are immense opportunities for law graduates. One can opt for individual practice as an advocate in a court or can get employed with corporate firms. A law graduate can become a judge, Solicitor General, a Public Prosecutor or offer services to government departments and ministries. They can also render their services as legal adviser for various organizations.

In other field where a law graduate can go, are teaching in colleges, getting associated with NGOs or working as a reporter for newspapers and television channels.

Government of India is working closely to expand the scope for legal practice in India and planning to open the route for foreign law firms. We will witness better job opportunities when foreign law firms start functioning and operating in India. LPOs are recruiting young law graduates for their dealing in US laws or UK laws processes. Because of the liberalization of legal education, practitioners from other fields are getting inclination to do courses in law to raise their legal awareness.

Pay Package

Law as a career has a great potential to earn money. People who are beginners and practicing in a court get salaries and stipend of Rs. 6000 to Rs. 50,000.Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) has become a favouate field that gives attractive salary in the range of Rs 25,000 to Rs 70,000 or even more. It has become a very high paying profession, but one has to prove his potential as his caliber, popularity and success.

Therefore law should be seen as a high potential career option. But it is also important to note that, Institution from which one is getting the education, plays significant role. The reputed colleges give quality education and placement assistance too.

By pursuing a career in law one can reach to the top and earn name, fame and money.
