The National Institute of Technology of Uttarakhand is situated at Srinagar Garhwal. The institute is established in the year 2010. It is also declared as an Institute of National Importance. The institute is popular with the acronym NITUK. Currently the campus is running in a Government Polytechnic College of the place temporarily. The permanent campus is under construction in 300 acres of land at Sumari near Srinagar Garhwal.

NITUK offers Undergraduate programs and Doctoral programs currently. Initially the institute has started with three fields in Undergraduate program in Engineering and extended two more besides introducing Doctoral courses. Five fields are offered in B.Tech. and the institute has proposal to increase the number of fields and programs in nearby future. Currently the intake of the students for each program is sixty.

Students of the country must have score in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and must have passed 10 +2 with the subject Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, to be eligible for the admission procedure for B.Tech. program. 60% of JEE Mains score and 40% of class 12 score is considered for the admission and rankings are provided as per that.
