The National Institute of Technology of Sikkim is situated at Ravangla, currently. The institute is established in the year 2010. It is popular with the acronym NITSKM. NITSKM is one of the ten NITs of India established in the recent decade. With the motto ‘Keep Moving’, the institute is producing quality education. Though the campus is temporary, all needed requirements are provided and the institute is provided ample place for permanent campus at Khamdong.
Courses offered by National Institute of Technology, Sikkim
NITSKM offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs. B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. are the major programs that are offered. Bachelor Degree in Engineering is offered with 6 fields. With around 7 departments such as Bio-Technology, Mechanical Engineering etc, the institute offers M.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering at present. There is a proposal to increase the number of programs offered and the fields of the programs, in future.
Admission for National Institute of Technology, Sikkim
For the admission into Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) program, students must have the All India Rank in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and good score in 10 + 2 passed with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. 60% of the JEE score and 40% of 10+2 score are considered while the admission procedure. GATE score is considered for M.Tech. program and the admission procedure is through CCMT.

Though the campus at Ravangla is temporary, it possesses all major facilities for the students. The campus has a huge library, auditorium, separate hostels for boys and girls, vast playgrounds for cricket, volleyball and football, indoor sports facilities etc. The institute hosts several intra-sports tournaments. The new permanent campus is going to have better facilities in a better place at Khamdong. The Annual Tech Fest and the Annual Cultural Fest organized by the institute and the student bodies help the students to improve in all other aspects apart from academics.
