The National Institute of Technology of Punjab is situated at Jalandhar. The college is established in the year 1987. It was initially established as Punjab Regional Engineering College (PREC) and later upgraded into NIT in the year 2002. The college is also recognized as Institute of National Importance. Now it is popular with the acronym NITJ and is named as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar. With the motto ‘Hail Saraswati’, the institute has produced more than three thousand five hundred students.

Every discipline is offered with specialization such as Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering etc in B.Tech., Chemical Engineering, Information Security, Structural & Construction Engineering, VLSI Design etc in M.Tech. The college also offers three and half year part-time M.Tech Program with few specializations. M.Sc. program is also offered in major subjects like Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Ph.D.program is offered as part-time and full time.
