How to Prepare JEECUP Entrance Exam 2024


The Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education (UPBTE) guided by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) is organizing a competitive examination called Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) or UP Polytechnic Examination. This test is aimed at selecting the candidates for the diploma and polytechnic diploma courses under the different disciplines of engineering. The selection test is conducted yearly once mostly by the beginning of May. Due to the number of branches available the exams are conducted in the morning and evening sessions. There is a tight competition for getting high ranks in the entrance test which raises questions in the minds of aspirants on how to prepare JEECUP.

All Indian citizens are eligible for appearing in the JEECUP exam. A preference of about 85% is given in the number of seats for those candidates who are residents of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The left over ones are the management seats. The basic requirement for appearing in the JEECUP exam is to attain a minimum pass percentage in the class tenth exam. Those with a higher secondary education or having an undergraduate degree can also apply for the test. The age limit for admission to diploma courses is not specified.

The official web portal carries the detailed information about applying for the test. The only means of applying for the test is by online registration. All the related instructions are given on the website which should be thoroughly understood by the candidate before filling the online application. The registration for JEECUP exam is accomplished completely after payment of fees. An amount of Rs 300/- is received from general category students while reservation candidates can apply with Rs 200/-. The fee payment also is by online methods of e- Challan, using debit or credit cards or other net banking methods. On finishing registration the candidate is advised to retain a hard copy of the application for later references.

The JEECUP exam syllabus is comparatively simpler and consists of portions of physics, chemistry and mathematics of the grade 10 curriculum. For clearing the entrance test broad knowledge about the concepts is a must. The syllabus being simpler does not mean that the exam is easy. Due to higher levels of competition scoring good marks in JEECUP is quite difficult. By practicing with previous year papers the time management can be learned easily. Coaching centers play significant role in providing all conditions needed for attaining success in the test.

The test is a single paper based consisting of 120 multiple choice questions. Sixty questions are from mathematics, followed by thirty each from physics and chemistry. Each question carries one mark. For wrong answers or marking of multiple answers there is no negative marking. The final selection into the colleges of Uttar Pradesh are based purely on the rank obtained in the JEECUP exam. At the time of admission, it is required to submit original of all the related documents which are claimed by the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, failing which the admission will be canceled.
