Arts Courses in India


Arts courses include Fine arts, performing arts, religious studies, social sciences, languages of different states and countries etc. Few subjects come under Arts stream as well as Science streams such as Mathematics and Computer Applications.

Art courses in schooling

Art courses are offered right from childhood. Those who wish to continue their educational career in arts shall take arts subjects in class 11 or Intermediate, after class 10. There are several subjects offered in art courses at class 11 or Intermediate.

Graduation and Post Graduation in Arts

There are several graduation and post graduation courses offered after class 12. The students those who do not belong to arts courses in class 12 can also choose these programs. Bachelor of Arts is the major program offered with several options. Several languages, Indian and International, fine arts and performing arts, social sciences, Mathematics etc are few of the offering subjects. Master of Arts is the program offered at Postgraduate level with the same optional. Students with any graduation degree are eligible for the program. These courses are offered in regular as well as distance mode.

There are even several certificate and diploma programs for those who wish to have qualification besides their regular studies. Few of the programs require class 10 or 12 and few other require any graduation from recognized university as eligibility. Even these courses are offered in regular as well as distance mode as per the subject.

Career Options in Arts

Arts students have multiple opportunities in a number of fields. A Graduate from Arts is eligible for various Government jobs like Civil services. Print and Mass Media prefer Art students for different job roles like Journalist, Editor, Lyricist, Singer etc. Financial sectors depend majorly on Arts Graduates. Even in IT sector, there are end number of openings as a content writer or technical writer etc. Teaching or Lectureship is another option of many aspirants. The employment offers are found in Government as well as private sectors.
